Protecting the Environment

Understanding where our environmental exposure actually sits.

Allez owns no farms, plantations or processing assets, so our direct environmental footprint is modest. The environmental weight of our activity sits in the supply chains we participate in and in the movement of goods.

Sourcing

We do not knowingly source from supply linked to deforestation or the conversion of primary land. Where a commodity or origin carries elevated land-use risk, we require sourcing documentation and give preference to supply that can demonstrate responsible land management.

Movement of Goods

Ocean freight is where the emissions intensity of our activity concentrates. Where commercially viable we favour cargo consolidation, efficient parcel sizing and well-maintained tonnage — each of which lowers emissions per tonne delivered, and each of which also makes commercial sense.

Packaging and Materials

Packing format is set against the requirement of the destination market. Where a specification allows for reduced material use or more efficient loading without compromising product integrity, we take it.

Measurement

Standards for emissions accounting in commodity trade continue to develop, particularly for chartered freight where the merchant does not control the asset. We are building measurement capability in step with those standards and will report on it accurately rather than claim ahead of what we can evidence.
