Our Approach
Responsibility applied where we hold influence.
Allez is a merchant. We do not farm, mill or refine, and our direct environmental footprint is correspondingly limited. Our influence sits elsewhere — in which suppliers we choose to work with, on what terms, and under what conditions we are prepared to trade at all.
We concentrate effort where that influence is real. A commitment a merchant cannot support with the leverage it actually holds is not a commitment.
Sourcing Decisions
The most consequential responsibility decision a merchant makes is which supplier to buy from. We assess counterparties on conduct as well as commercial terms, and we decline trade where sourcing conditions fall below the standard we are prepared to stand behind.
Engagement Over Exclusion
Where a supplier's practices fall short but the relationship is capable of improving, engagement generally achieves more than withdrawal. Exclusion removes our influence along with our exposure. We prefer to set expectations, monitor them and hold the relationship — while retaining the ability to end it.
Proportionality
We apply effort in proportion to risk. Origins and supply chains carrying elevated social or environmental exposure receive more scrutiny than those that do not. Uniform effort across unequal risks is inefficient and, in practice, ineffective.
Accurate Description
We describe what we do rather than what we intend. Measurement standards in agricultural supply chains continue to develop, and we build capability alongside them rather than claim ahead of them.
Certification
Where credible certification exists for a commodity and certified supply is commercially available, we give it preference. We hold no certification we have not been granted, and we make no claim we cannot evidence.
